About Us

RSVP allows people age 55 and over from Pierre, Ft. Pierre, Onida, Murdo, and surrounding areas the opportunity to stay active and to share their life learned knowledge with others in the community. People who participate in the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program choose among a variety of different volunteer opportunities, such as tutoring/mentoring children, helping with special events in the community, answering telephones for non-profit organizations, giving a friendly visit to elderly people in the community, and many others.

RSVP members make a difference in the lives of those in need. With each new experience, volunteers meet new people and work to solve new problems, creating solutions that benefit everyone. Living a satisfying and fulfilling life means helping others, staying involved, giving back to the community and having fun. RSVP offers the chance to do all of these!

RSVP is a completely FREE program. You are not expected to buy uniforms, nor do you obtain any kind of obligation whatsoever. The program allows you to choose when and where you volunteer. Furthermore, you will receive free volunteer placement and supplemental accident and liability insurance (when you are on your way to volunteer, during your volunteer time, and on your way home).

Did you know that volunteerism is good for the heart? It increases your self-esteem and competence as well as lessens stress and depression. In fact, studies show that people who volunteer live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
